Cook Memorial is Fine Free!
Going fine free is one key way to remove barriers to public library use.
While libraries who are fine free see lower revenue from fines, there is a proven increase in patron use of the library. As stewards of a public entity, our mission is to find ways to best serve those who are least able to afford fines and who may be most in need of using library services. Moving to a fine-free model takes away economic barriers from those hardest hit by fine policies.
